Also, major oil producing nations would have to start selling oil in currencies other than the U.S. dollar and finally a new global reserve currency would need to be created independent of the dollar. But, I don’t see any of these things happening any time soon. If the legislation of a particular country does not encourage trade, then a country cannot be able to dominate internationally. The emergence of other strong currencies such as the Renmimbi (RMB) could cause the US to lose its dominant financial position in the world.
