Introduction
Technology has been the major driving force in our society today. It is very evident to note that technological innovations had harmed our environment to a great extent. But using the technological innovations wisely and using the same for solving environmental problems is an effective measure to counter the harms that affected the environment. Science and Technology have always served humanity for the welfare and the betterment of our lives. However, now the safety and health issues are endangered due to the negative impact of technological innovations. This assignment discusses the methods and circumstances by which society is using technology to eradicate and reduce the extent of pollution and hazard in the environment. Thus to maintain the ecological balance of nature and the environment technology should impact positively and thereby creating a better habitat for all living beings.
US Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Technological Program
The Environmental Technology Verification Program of the US Environmental Protection Agency was started in 1995 which focused on developing protocols and processes that deal with the testing and verifying hazardous substances used by the technological aspects that harm human beings (Thomas et al., 2019). It primarily initiated the program of eliminating the substances that can harm human civilization. This is one of the most effective programs around the globe that uses different innovative technologies to ensure the safety and health aspects of society (Senthilkumar et al., 2018).
Effective procedures were developed to monitor various products of technology that affect the environmental condition. For instance, Advanced Monitoring System Centre is a program that is used to evaluate and assess the contaminants which affect the natural species. Agricultural activities produce ammonia which directly affects the atmosphere which causes adverse health and environmental effects. The ETV program was initiated to measure the levels of ammonia in the air by establishing ammonia sensors. Monitoring technology is also established to monitor the levels of mercury in the environment. These are some of the pieces of evidence that the Environmental Technology Verification Program initiated to enhance the environmental aspects and ensure safety through effective monitoring.
