Assessment Task:



The purpose of this assessment is to allow students take on a management perspective to analyse organisational change and propose recommendations with the aim of improving the situation.This project seeks to create a case study of an organization that requires a change intervention.


Students will be required to choose an organisation that they are familiar with and analyse it using relevant change management theories or frameworks to identify areas where change is required. Relevant change intervention strategies are to be proposed.



The organisational change project covers the following:


1.An introduction to the organisation.


2.Internal and external analysis of the organisation to identify areas requiring change (at the end of this section, include a summary of the areas where change is required)


3.Literature review – overview of change management theories or frameworks


4.Evaluation of possible change strategies required to improve the situation.


5.Recommendations of the most suitable strategies.


6.Required resources for implementing the identified suitable strategies.


7.Conclusion

David Jones is a departmental store, which can be considered as the retail industry. This is based in Australia. David Jones is a supermarket, which is owned by the Woolworths franchise in Australia. Thus, David Jones is associated with one of the most monstrous retail chains throughout the world. The headquarters of this company is situated in Melbourne, Australia. In the past years, it has expanded a lot throughout the country and that is the reason why it can be said that it has gotten a lot of success in the initial years (Jones, 2015). There is a total of 48 departmental stores associated with David Jones within Australia.
David Jones has its store in the Australian Territories as well. Thus, the organization has gained popularity in the different context of the country. The different types of expansion have led to a lot of recognition to the organization as well. In recent years, this organization is facing several problems regarding the sales or the productivity ratio. In the age of globalization, maintaining the proper organizational decorum or behavior is very important for any certain organization. David Jones is facing issues in that aspect only. That is the reason why this report attempts to identify the gaps in the organizational behavior shown by David Jones in the context of marketing and other fields.
2. Describing and Analyzing the Organizational Behavior Issues for the Management of Workforce Diversity
In this age of globalization, the companies are very much focused on the different organizational theories so that they can stand out in the global business context. However, in the huge organizations as well some problems in the organizational behavior can be seen. A huge company like David Jones is also affected by the lack of proper organizational behavior within this company. The organizational behavior is a very important phenomenon within an organization and that is the reason why maintaining them is very important (Cho, Kim & Mor Barak, 2017).
In an organization, there should be workforce diversity. There are different employees from different cultures and that is the reason why workforce diversity can occur within an organization. In this case, David Jones is not an exception but this company is facing issues in managing the different workforce diversity within the organization. This ill management of workforce diversity is very destructive for the organization as it hampers the overall workforce and the quality of the work within the organization. That is the reason why management of the different diverse workforce is very important for David Jones in this present scenario.
Empowerment of the People
Empowering people is a very essential element for different organizations. People, who are associated with the organization is a huge part of the human resource of the organization. These human resources have a number of contributions to the growth and progress of the organization as well. That is the reason why the empowerment of the employees and the people are very much important for the organization. If the employees are provided with the proper empowerment then it will motivate and inspire people to do more good quality jobs within the organization (Hirzel, Leyer & Moormann, 2017). Thus, the empowerment of the people is beneficial for the organizational progress as well. In the case of David Jones, the scenario is a bit different. David Jones is failing to maintain this organizational behavior within their establishment. They are not providing enough empowerment to the people and that is the reason why the inspiration and motivation quotient of the people within this company is low. This has its effect on the different production activity of the organization as well.
Improvement of People’s Skills
David Jones is facing huge problems in the aspect of the improvements in people's skills. In an organization, people go through the continuous development of their skills. This personal skill development acts as a very important part of the high quality of the manufactured products from a specific organization. To achieve this place, an organization should provide different types of teaching and learning sessions and training to the employees so that they can understand the proper pattern of the work, they are allocated. David Jones in the present scenario is failing a lot in providing the proper improvement facilities for the people working in the organization (Cox, 2016). Without the proper training and learning scopes, the people are not able to deliver the work that is necessary for the growth of the organization itself.
