Unit III Case Study

The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn more about research in the field and to examine the relationship between the physiology of movement and the symptoms of neurological diseases and complex motor behavior.

Conduct a case study based on the Required Unit Resources for this unit. The Unit article is attached.

After reading the aforementioned resource, address the areas below in your essay.

Evaluate the relationship between the physiology of movement and symptoms of neurological diseases such as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). In the world of football, especially in the United States, this topic is highly debatable. What is your position? Do you believe that the impact of the sport may cause a neurological disease such as this? Support your answer with your required reading or other academic sources.

Analyze the functions of the skeletal muscles, spinal cord, and brain when moving the body in a sport such as football. How important are the skeletal muscles, spinal cord, and brain when participating in a sport? What could the sports industry do to better protect the players’ bodies and their functions while playing a sport such as football?
How might complex motor behavior where the brain plans, initiates, imitates, and comprehends movement be impacted by a potential brain injury such as CTE? Is such an injury preventable or inevitable while playing such an impactful sport such as football?

Use your own words, and include citations and references in APA Style as needed to avoid plagiarism. Your paper must be at least 3 pages in length.

The example case study is to show how to construct this assignment in APA style. It is also attached. Thank you.

Relationship between Physiology of Movement and Symptoms of Neurological Diseases such as Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE)
My Position on This Debatable Topic
Football and CTE are not strangers to each other. When a player gets repeated blows on head, it kills brain cells. It is not visible from single concussion but after years of exposure to it the symptoms start getting visible like impulse control, mood swings and changes in behavior (Grashow et al., 2020).
Forgetfulness, violent behavior and other brain traumas are some challenges which has future implications. I feel that any possibility of it shall not be ignored. Players should be educated for it and federations should consciously vouch for such injuries and help them to take preventive measures. This is alarming stage and need to be dealt with care.
Impact of Sport Causing Neurological Diseases
Yes, sport like football have risk factor for CTE which has increased rate in youth football. Various medical communities and doctors have researched and learned about such concussions which can lead to CTE. It is more common in professional football as due to constant hits the neurons in the brain are be stretched and damaged.
This causes degenerative disease CTE. Despite severe penalties for helmet hits then umber of concussions are not reducing. The future of the sport in this light is uncertain and needs more research on the same. But with awareness less number of youth is coming forward with their participation.
