Summary
Information and communication technology (ICT) has emerged as an important aspect in the growth and development of businesses, government and society. Through information and communication technology globalization has become more prominent. Hospitality and tourism industry has also adopted ICT to transform the way the project needs to be managed. ICT has acted as an economic pillar for the sustainable growth and development of the tourism and hospitality industry and has also helped the existing players in the market to gain competitive advantage. Though ICT has helped the tourism industry to grow significantly there are several challenges as well which the industry has faced due to incorporation of advanced information and communication technologies. Deployment of internet and web 1.0/2.0 along with other social media alternatives has transformed the tourism industry completely. In the opinion of Tussyadiah and Inversini (2015) social media has become an important tool to enhance brand image.
