u and his concept-Born in Afikpo, Nigeria, Chris Abani always believed that the world could only be saved by gestures and acts of kindness, compassion, and not by wars. His father was an Igbo and his mother belonged to English origin. Chris loved documenting stories about people that showed their everyday transformation. In his Ted talk, he discusses a phrase popular in South Africa called ’Ubuntu’ that symbolizes humanity. Ubuntu as an ideology is all about humanity and the way people reflect it. People cannot display humanity until and unless they acknowledge others that surround them. In a way, they all are intertwined with each other. This may sound simple but is complicated. As specified by Chris, Ubuntu encourages people to put up their best behavior that must be accurate in relation to other people. Ubuntu specifies small act of kindness that is uncomplicated yet remarkable. Acts such as helping a stranger, in any way possible marks the emergence of Ubuntu in a person.
