Freedom from want and Freedom from war
Freedom from want is a painting by Norman Rockwell who is an American Artist. The Painting is also known as the Thanksgiving Picture, it is completed in the year 1943 and it is a work on canvas, and is in the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. Three generations of a family is depicted by the painting around a table at the ceremony of thanksgiving. At the head of the table the father is standing as the mother is about to place a large turkey in front of him. The turkey opulence is counterbalanced by the scarcity of the relative of other foods on the table and the water is present as the only beverage. For this work Rockwell was inspired by a state of the union address by the president F.D. Roosevelt. The three other works is painted by the artist who is inspired by the same speech.
