Executive Summary
The study is an analysis of the importance of tourism and the roles of the stakeholders in accelerating the growth in the tourism sector of Barcelona. The study discussed the importance of tourism and its geographical advantage that attracts tourists every year. Further, the various roles and duties of the stakeholders have been explored in contributing to the sustainability and performance of the sector. The study explores the various challenges in terms of political, social, cultural and ethical aspect, which Barcelona has been encountering for the last few years that had a negative impact on the tourism sector of the city. The competitive analysis has been carried out to understand their strength as well as weakness in attracting tourists. Finally, the study explores the possible recommendation, which the local government can explore to resolve the challenges.

Introduction
There are various factors that motivate tourist to travel, that can be either for personal fulfilment, relaxation, and self-exploration or for social interaction. In some cases, it has been observed that the tourists are also motivated to travel due to the strengthening their family togetherness, prestige and shopping. The current essay will analyse and highlight the different push factors that allow tourists to seek travelling. In this case, the destination, which will be explored, is Barcelona.
An Overview of Barcelona
The city of Barcelona is known to be the capital of Catalonia in the country Spain. Barcelona is one of the populated cities in Spain with a population of 4.7 million people. Further, the city is also one of the largest Metropolises in the Mediterranean regions. Barcelona is located along the coast of river Llobregat as well as Besos. It is also surrounded by the mountain ranges of Serra de Collserola. The city was founded during the middle ages and was the administrative and economical centre of the Aragon Kingdom. Barcelona is also is the cultural centre of Spain enriched with cultural heritage attracting tourists from different parts of the world.
Unique Selling Points (USP’s)
Barcelona is one of the centres for a number of architectural buildings and creation by Antoni Gaudi and Montaner. Martins (2018), these architectural sites have been designated as the heritage sites by UNESCO. Additionally, Barcelona attracts millions of tourists years not only by its famous heritage sites but also for its cultural centres, trade fairs and commerce. It is also famous for fashion, media, education that has been contributing to its growing status globally. Further Barcelona is also been accepted to be the headquarters for Union of Mediterranean. The city host sports tournaments, conferences as well as expositions. It is also the economic and cultural centre for South-Western Europe.

From the visitor's point of view, there are several museums build in different eras are well preserved in Barcelona. As expressed by Rico et al.
