igh product quality is the most significant factor that influences the buying decision of customers. Hence, it is essential for every company to emphasize the quality.
The present report is concerned about a Middle Eastern automobile company of the United Arab Emirates, Harrow security vehicles established in 2013. The company is engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of Armored SUV cars, trucks and vehicles (Harrow Security Vehicles, 2016). The report emphasizes on the poor quality issue and other problems in the manufacturing process of the company. Further, it also describes the quality tool which the company should use.
Situation
Harrow security vehicles are mainly engaged in the manufacturing and distribution of armored SUV cars and trucks. Although the company is using quality control measures and techniques for the improvement and betterment of its products, somehow the company failed to deliver it. In order to compete with other car manufacturers and becoming the leading company in the automobiles industry, the company decided to restrict the manufacturing cost to not more than $2100 and weight to 2100 pounds. In the manufacturing of the cars, the engineers and experts tested that the cars failed in the rear end collision test due to the inappropriate location of the fuel tank.
The major problem that the cars manufactured by the company have is in the engine. In the cars, the problem of overheating and smoking or steaming of the engine is common in all. Although the company used lean manufacturing system for its quality but failed to apply it effectively.
Lean manufacturing is a process of minimizing waste without reducing and affecting the efficiency and effectiveness (Dale & Plunkett, 2017). The company uses lean manufacturing or production approach in order to minimize or eliminate the waste so that a more quality product with less cost can be prepared.
