The increase in the access to the internet has killed the tendencies of the criminal psychology. Recently According to an Australian daily, a problem of cybersecurity has been evident in the case of shoplifting. The cases of shoplifting have been on the rise due to the problems in cybersecurity. The amount and the rate of shoplifting have risen by 16% in less than two years, costing the sector $3.37 billion in the 2017-18 financial years.
The process of shoplifting has been on the hike due to the inefficiency in the cybersecurity. The CCTV cameras, metal detectors are not in the proper working mode to identify the true culprit. This is indeed a major issue in Australia as the companies are suffering on a huge basis due to the process of shoplifting. According to Potter and Vickers (2015), it has been surveyed that about 9,000 retail stores across Australia and New Zealand is prone to crimes.
