Introduction
The strategic alignment should be in support with the IT strategy of a business organization for
its successful growth and development. Little focus has been given to the strategic alignment of
business as it does not represent the major part of the policy in almost all the organizations.
There is a need for maintaining the framework for engineering requirements so that it becomes
align with the business processes in the long run. One of the frameworks of IT enabled system is
that of B-CP which considers three main themes of notation, that is, strategy, process and
context. These three aspects provide the basic platform for tracing the need to connect the
business processes and its strategy through cross-referencing and development of channels for
innovation to earn competitive advantage in the business environment (Lee & Tsang, 2009).
Role of IT in business strategy
There have been changes in the way businesses have been operating in the volatile
conditions along with their production processes of goods and services to meet the needs of their
customers. (Armbrust et al., 2009). It needs to concentrate over the relationship between the
return, performance at the corporate level, IT form of strategy, and its alignment with other
business strategies basically through measurement of return on business IT enabled policies’
return over investment and their role in improving growth performance (Pierce, 2002).
Another study by Tallon and Kraemer (2003) provides valuation of IT flexibility which
should be present in different forms of businesses and its association with the values of IT
business and its alignment with the business strategies. It majorly works over the dynamic
capabilities theory which would assess the realization of the payoffs due to investment in IT for

professional use. It works closely with the present value and future value fundamental rule of
accounting to enhance the calculative accuracy in various projects.
Another study by Ness (2005) stressed upon the development and maintenance of
relationship between the effectiveness of using IT for strategic alignment purposes and its role in
increasing the flexibility to follow the assertions in attaining organizational goals.
Irrespective of the size and nature of business organization, the effectiveness of IT
usually provides connectedness for determining the priority and dominance through adopting
cloud technology and aligning it with regular strategic forms of business (Chebrolu, 2010). As a
whole, it involves the effectiveness of each aspect of IT growth factors having its basis of actions
through construction of elements which is basically the extension of theories suggested by
Chebrolu.
The research of few classical theorists helped in construction of basis for measurements
and instrumentation processes designed for producing positive results by determining reliability
measures, measuring validity of these theories for IT enabled firms and to determine the measure
of correlation in producing constructive results. It has been widely accepted that studies of IT
strategy and its relation with strategic alignment is used to achieve the formation of new means
of measuring changing innovations and instruments over business practices.
Strategic Alignment
As defined by David (2003), strategic alignment can be defined as the form of art to be
used for making decisions in businesses through development of IT by amalgamating various
forms of science and implementing its theories to take decisions in business. For creating the
technical blueprint, the analogous nature of aligning with strategies has its major impact IT

enabled firms to respond to the current business strategies for maximizing their profits and to
achieve their goals (Feeny and Willcocks, 1998). Although there have been great differences in
the opinions of development of definitions related to IT dimensions and its role in alignment of
business strategies, still common degree of validation and reliable features have been found in
producing corporate results for the study (Seddon, Staples, Patnayakuni, & Bowtell, 1999).
Authors like Tallon, Kraemer, and Gurbaxani (2000) have used the effectiveness of
generating positive outcomes to develop higher rate of growth by delivering required products
and services as per the market demand which would create an image of the brand. It would
provide the theoretical framework for assessing the performance level of the business strategies
and changes, if required, can be done through deployment of IT enabled forms of business
forces.
Hence, it can be suggested in concise manner that linkages are developed for
understanding the domain of business and its strategies which are used for development of
conducive environment by making use of different growth strategies (Avila, Goepp, & Kiefer,
2009). Close linkages have been found on the basis of maintaining the alignment process of
business strategies...
