The #MeToo movement started years ago when Tarana Burke came forward to fight for dark skinned girl victims of sexually assaults, by making the victims realize that they are not alone and there are other who have faced such adversities in life.

However, in 2017, the #MeToo campaign started with big names such as Taylor Swift, Ashley Judd and Susan Fowler posed on the cover of Time Magazine embracing the movement by urging women to come forward who have been sexually assaulted at any given time by using the # MeToo to become a part of the movement.

The initiators of the movement were all women and belonged to the elite class of the society, most of them being role model for other. However, the movement gradually became widespread and men joined in as supports and victims. Sexual assaults are common to both men and women and require change in the attitude than safeguarding of all (Brunes & Heir, 2018).

The #MeToo movement started a movement that not only sympathizes with the victims but also brings them together to offer resistance against big names, demanding a better behavior from every person, treating everyone with dignity. Sexually assaulting someone is a disregard for individual dignity as well as contempt for law (Moore, & Baker, 2018).

In October 2017, the #MeToo movement became viral on internet as women from the elite society came forward to speak about a tabooed topic such as sexual harassment. On social media English was the language used for the #MeToo movement as it was the international language, reducing the communication gap between people in different parts of the globe sharing their similar experience.
