Imagine you are a consultant who was hired to research, analyze, and present a report to the police chief and mayor of a major U.S. city of your choice. Your presentation must identify the city you selected and two contemporary criminal justice policies or procedures that are challenging that city. For each policy or procedure, provide evidence-based solutions to each, including a visual representation of quantitative data relevant to each.


Some examples of policies and procedures you might select include sanctuary cities and immigration enforcement, police body cameras, anti‐terrorism, public shooters, response to civil unrest, criminal prosecution of police officers, or a different topic approved by your Instructor.

  • A brief (no more than 1 paragraph) introduction of two contemporary criminal justice policies or procedures that are challenging that city. Be sure to indicate the city.

  • An explanation of why the policies or procedures are challenging the city, referencing 2–3 credible resources.

  • A proposed evidence-based solution for each policy or practice that is challenging the city (each solution should be at least 1 page each).

  • A visual representation of quantitative data relevant to each solution, to demonstrate its prior success.

Criminal Justice Policies are those set of policies framed by the statutory and regulatory bodies of a country that cater t
o look after the criminal issues and punish the guilty by providing justice to the innocents and make world a better place to live! Its objective is to reduce the crime rate in the country, make that country a suitable and safe habitat for its people and to discourage unlawful acts and crimes committed by the convict.
Some of the most highlighted criminal justice issues in any country are- drug issues, involvement of juvenile and youth in the crime, violence against women, and many more to mention (“A More Just New York city”). The regulatory body has undertaken the approach of Criminal Justice Reform to deal with and discourage the criminal offenses and encourage safety of the citizens of New York by the means of (“Criminal Justice Reform”):
Bail Reform, wherein, the accused does not get pleaded from the suspected crime on the basis of cash bail and has to go for trails in the court. This has been done with the objective to make such criminals understand that they cannot be released merely through cash.
Discovery Reform, it is related to sharing all the evidences before the trail.
Speedy Trial Reform, makes the court trails easier to proceed without the concerned getting into the tedious process, with the motive of avoiding delays

Although, there are many issues relating to criminal justice that challenge the NYC. To name a few are jail population, homicides, shooting incidents, criminal summonses, stop and frisk incidents, property crime, etc.
