To go some way towards addressing these concerns, the UK government introduced reforms in October 2013 – under the Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Act – which will require quoted companies to provide clearer information on the pay of top executives, to give shareholders a regular vote on company remuneration policy and to set out details on the non-financial aspects of the firm’s operations, including its performance on human rights, greenhouse gas emissions and gender representation at senior levels.
