Problem 6.1:Using the same data set and variable from Week 4 problem 1 (body-weight.sav,weight), write the 5-step approach to hypothesis testing for the research question: "Is the mean body-weight in this population 150 lbs?" Use SPSS to obtain the value of the test statistic and the associated p-value. Explain why you would or would not reject the null hypothesis.
Problem 6.2:The datasetedu_smoke.savlists the level of education for 585 people in a sample. There are 5 possible levels of education, which are referred to with a 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Compare the distribution of level of education in this sample to a distribution from a sample taken 10 years ago. Here is that distribution:
Education Level
1
2
3
4
5
Frequency
15%
20%
25%
The frequency in the table is the expected frequency. The observed frequency should be calculated from data body-weight.sav. Use the 5 -step approach to hypothesis testing and SPSS to answer the research question: "Is the distribution (or observed frequency) of level of education in the sample significantly different from what you would expect based on the historical comparison (sample from 10 years ago)?" Be sure to include an interpretation of the Chi Square statistic and its associated p-value in your answer.
Copy and paste (or use theFile/Exportoption in SPSS) any required data charts or summaries into a Word document, or export the data output as a Word/RTF document. Save your Application Assignment as a ".doc" or " .rtf" file.
