To be an ethical leader, some researchers propose that a person first needs to have a high moral identity, which then guides and regulates his or her moral actions. These moral actions then translate into actions that are consistent with what is means to be a moral person, resulting in that person being perceived as an ethical leader (Mayer, Aquino, Greenbaum, & Kuenzi, 2012).
