Title: Individual Education Plan and supporting documentation for Sarah
Weighting: 30%

Length: 2000 words: This includes the IEP and report

Due: Week 7

Learning outcomes: 1, 2 and 4
Please use the following scenario for creating an Individual Education Plan:

Sarah (4.5 years) attends a Long Day Care Centre 4 days a week. She taught herself to read at 2.5
years and attempts to read everything she can find, including books in book corner and signs for
parents. Sarah reads a range of material. She likes to read to her peers and read recipes. She has
an interest in cooking.
Sarah prefers to play in small groups and engages with her educators.
Sarah is able to sing complete songs tunefully and can play melodies that she hears on a keyboard.
She has completed an IQ test that identified her as being in the gifted range.

For this assessment, you will need to use an Individual Education Plan (IEP) template of your choice
or an IEP provided by your academic.
The accompanying report will include

• A reflective statement about curriculum decision making

• Consideration of pedagogical practices utilised in the IEP planning and implementation

• The role of the family in creating and implementing the IEP

• The role of the child in creating and implementing the IEP

• The role of others (professionals or community) in creating and implementing the IEP.

Your assessment should show evidence that you have read widely on the topic beyond the supplied
readings and texts. Your assessment must use correct referencing, in APA 7th Ed.

All submissions must comply with the requirements listed in the Student Handbook for this course.
