Module two presented us with numerous examples of how powerful rulers are depicted in relation to their god in the Ancient Near East. Discuss some of these representations through an analysis of the art discussed in the module using specific examples. What techniques and symbols does the artist use to represent power and religion? Identify evidence of some of this influence today.

2.Representations of Political Power

Module two focuses on the iconography associated with the power and might of the king/ruler. This is done through size, scale, attributes and symbols in both art and architecture. Why was this necessary? In your discussion refer to examples of particular works of art or archaeology and the message that is relayed. Can you think of any modern-day examples that compare?
