This workbook entry is based on Modules 1, 2, 3 and 4. You are required to choose only ONE question from the list below to address. This is to provide you with the freedom to choose one question that you want to focus on. To address your selected question, you are strongly advised to refer to the required readings for each module, located under the Readings & Resources folder on vUWS. The readings are also listed in the learning guide for your reference.Students are encouraged to develop a consistent and well-informed argument to address the selected question, to use reflective yet, academic literacy when responding to this assessment task.Choose ONE of the following questions to explore and discuss.

  1. Define the terms “criminal” and “justice”. Do these terms go together? How does the Australian criminal justice system dispense “justice”? Apply at least one example and one academic source to address the question. (based on module 1.) The purpose of this workbook entry is to assist you in progressively developing your understanding of key concepts, ideas, and arguments presented in weekly modules and readings and to provide an opportunity for defining and applying these to a range of contemporary issues and debates. The skills you develop through your workbook entries will help you when writing the Case Study report because you would have developed the required skills for writing about criminal justice themes.

Located in Readings & Resource folder on vUWS. p Read through the question you have chosen carefully, highlight each key concept. p Start researching other sources of academic relevant information from reliable sources such as the WSU Libraries, the WSU Journal Databases (via the Library internet page). Record your references as you find them and use them in your workbook entry using the correct referencing style. p Collate the information you have gained from researching in the readings relevant to your chosen question. p Write this information up into a concise, well-articulated format that shows you understand the concepts in your workbook entry. p Check that your references are from the correct module and that you have written them in the correct format. p Check that your Workbook entry demonstrates an in-depth reflection on the key concepts and principles discussed in the unit. Viewpoints are perceptive and well supported. Check to see if your examples are relevant. p Check you are within the word limit of 750 words. p Make sure your writing style makes sense and that there is clarity in the meaning of your words. p IMPORTANT- have someone proof-read your work. Use Study Smart, the Study Lounge or someone you know with academic writing experience. If all else fails, read it out of a loud and check for errors. p Check your spelling, grammar and punctuation. p Check that your references, citations and sources are relevant to the correct module/readings and that they are in the correct standard for WSU.
