This unit provides an overview of the fundamental approaches employed in research, specificallyfocusing on the range of research techniques used in the business and project managementdisciplines. It is normally completed in the last semester of student’s course and focuses on formalacademic research that will draw upon the studies completed beforehand. In this unit, studentsselect topic underpinning disciplines in business and project management, develop a researchplan, conduct the respective research, and present their research project in written academicformat and orally to their research supervisors, peers and invited academics.This unit is a core unit in the MBPM program and an elective unit in the MBA program.1.2 Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs)On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to:[ULO1] Apply knowledge and elaborate the methods and techniques involved in planning andexecuting a research project.[ULO2] Develop and implement a conceptual framework for a research problem and assess theconceptual model.[ULO3] Develop appropriate methodologies and measurement instruments for data collection.[ULO4] Interpret findings and write a research report employing scholarly standards.
