This paper is "Rogerian" in its basic structure. Make your paper a letter to Jaron Lanier. Use the first half (2+ pages) of your letter to summarize Lanier's book for him by replaying the book's key themes and conclusions back for him in a way that would earn his approval. In good Rogerian fashion, make your audience feel understood and fairly treated. The goal is to get Lanier (hypothetically, of course) to conclude that you have actually read his book, that you get why he is trying to say, and that you have enough maturity and literacy to represent his thesis and supporting points with accuracy and empathy. Clearly, text engagement (integration, weaving, commenting) is absolutely crucial. Having thus established your credibility, use the second half of your letter to explain why you mostly agree or disagree with the gist of his book. Naturally, you will want to empathize your own personal experience in the paper's second half, but keep quoting strategically. Use the book as your only textual reference, and remember refer to it in the present tense
