As per the observation of GM culture crisis, the leadership model applicable is the transformational one. The failure to provide ignition switches causing 13 deaths over the course of one decade is irrational and it cannot be justified (Jennings & Trautman, 2016). However, the statements of Mary Barra before the standing committee of parliament showcase that the General Motors has new adhered to ‘new culture’ which projects that the organization is dedicated to make changes in its product designs as well as in their organizational culture so that they can put customers on top priority.

The change in leadership and influences appearing from both, internal and external sources is also noteworthy in this context. Initially, since 1995 when this crisis began taking shape, there were bureaucratic approaches existing in the organization tending to overlook the source of problem, which was the faulty production line of ignition switches.
