This is a logistic regression homework. Use R to analyze the given dataset. There are 8 questions that will be answered in this homework. Show any relevant output table or result below the question and write down any possible interpretation and conclusion. When you finish, please send me a file which has the answer to those questions and the R code that you have created for answering those questions. Open the wcgs data set in R (wcgs.csv). The Western Collaborative Group Study (Rosenman et al. 1964) was a large epidemiological study to investigate association of “type A” behavior pattern and coronary heart disease (CHD) 1 Use the logit function to fit the model using age to predict coronary heart disease event by 1969 (chd69). Write down the maximum likelihood estimates for the parameters, and the associated equation for the estimated probability of chd69 event for a given age. 2 Produce the odds ratios in R, and confirm the OR for the age parameter by hand. 3 Give the interpretation of the two parameters in terms of log-odds and the odds ratio. 4 If we are interested in the odds of chd69 for a 5 year increase in age, what is the estimated OR based on this data? 5 Use the output of the model from 1 to conduct the likelihood ratio test for including age in the model. (Use “Null deviance” and “Residual deviance” in R output) 6 Perform the Wald test for the coefficient of age (“by hand”) and again confirm in R output. 7 Using the output from R for the age coefficient, compute (by hand) the 95% confidence interval for the odds ratio – then confirm by producing this in R. What can you conclude about the significance of age as a predictor of chd69 from this confidence interval? Does this agree with the LR and Wald tests for this predictor? 8 In problem 4 you computed a OR for a 5 year age increase. Compute the corresponding 95% confidence interval of the OR by hand, and confirm in R.
