Analysis of Porphyria’s Lover
Browning was instrumental in weaving poetry with a definitive purpose – for exploring the heart as well as the mind relating to his characters. This made them talk in a way that functions in a particular situation relating to a certain incident, concerning the idea or experience. Browning’s dramatic monologues are characterized in a manner that shows the life from different perspectives. This shows how the dramatic monologist happens to be aware of the facet relating to relativity that shows the arbitrariness pertaining to a single way concerning life or a way at how one looks at the world – therefore, Browning presents what can be called the “inexhaustible multitudes of various lives which have been lived or can be lived.” In the poem Porphyria’s lover, she is shown to be in a position where she is already dead. The nameless speaker wants to stop time by murdering her, which appears to exist as a moment that he has longed for throughout his life. This moment happens to contain a lifetime pertaining to the surge relating to happiness as well as intense passion.
