Assessment 2 Information Subject Code: HAT203 Subject Name: Tourism and Hospitality Management Assessment Title: Assessment Type: Length: Case Study Analysis In-class Group Presentation with Slides 10 minutes (+/- 10% allowable range) Weighting: 30% Total Marks: Submission: 100 In-Class Presentation Delivery and Online Due Date: Week 9 Your task Collectively, you are required to analyse the hospitality and tourism industry and business from a case study by using theories and concepts related to hospitality and tourism management discussed in weeks 7 to 8. Assessment Description. The purpose of this group case study analysis is to develop students’ skills in applying relevant hospitality and tourism analysis tools to a real business case. Students will also develop their ability to identify a range of hospitality and tourism management issues in a collaborative environment. More importantly, this is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop essential soft skills that are such a necessity in today’s Tourism and Hospitality Industry. Assessment Instructions At the end of week 7 class, you will be given in-class time to form groups of three to four members (no more). Once you have created a group, you will then need to get acquainted with the rest of the members and select the team leader who will be responsible for submitting presentation slides into Turnitin. Be sure to inform your workshop facilitator of the group details before you proceed with this assessment preparation. Your workshop facilitator then will give you and your group members some time to read a case study based on which your group will need to analyse the macro context by using the STEEP framework. At the end of week 8 class, you and your group members will be given in-class time to reread the case study based on which you will need to analyse the micro context by using the Porter’s Five Forces model. To conclude your group work, you will need to prepare SWOT analysis and a summary of issues that you have identified from the overall analysis of the macro and micro contexts. During week 9, your group will be required to present your findings to the rest of the class with the use of PowerPoint presentation slides. Your slides must include a brief overview of the case study; the key results of the STEEP, Porter’s Five Forces, and SWOT analysis; and a summary of the identified issues.
