This individual assessment complements your learning from class and the understanding you gain from working through the learning materials. This reflective report gives you the opportunity to communicate your understanding of how Agile Business Analysis relates to your career and future using a specific business analysis tool that is used in Agile retrospectives - a Fishbone diagram.

    1. Take a large piece of paper a
      nd

draw a fishbone diagram (see below).

    2. Write a problem statement at the head of the fish that is specific to your circumstances e.g.

      “I

did not achieve the grade that I has set for myself as my personal goal”, “I could not spend

enough time on my studies to do as well as I w
anted to.”, “I was satisfied with my

      grade, but I felt

a bit stressed and under pressure”.

You are advised to personalise your problem statement to a problems that you experienced.

    3. The aim is now to explore branches of the fishbone to do a deeply considered root cause analysis of your problem.

Recommended branches include the 5 W’s

      - What, Where, Who, Why, When - however you may choose bones of your choice like: skills, systems, people, place, policies, methods, materials and/or technology. Bear in mind that your word count limits how many branches you can fully explore so it is recommended that you have no more than 5 branches. You need to focus on areas that were within your control for this to be a meaningful exercise for positive change / kaizen.

    4. Now either take pencil or sticky notes and jot down the problems you may have faced in each branch or bone that help you back from achieve what you wanted to achieve. Asking yourself

“Why did the [branch name] affect or cause my problem?”

    5. Once you have completed this activity look for:

      1. Are there any connections and links between items?

      2. Can you identify any patterns?

      3. How did these connections, links and patterns contribute to the outcome you achieved?

      4. What will you do differently in your next subject?

    6. Now you can start to write your report

Agile retrospectives - a Fishbone diagram 2
Introduction:
The brainstorming is a thing that we have all done in our daily lives especially when we wish to achieve something but we could not get it. Perhaps things could be confused at that time with opinions coming from all direction or it could be completed plan in a specific pattern. The agi
le retrospective analysis with a fishbone diagram is also known as Ishikawa diagrams. The core strength of this analysis is the methods of brainstorming enables the impact or identify the issues and find the pattern in between the routes. The peculiar model or design of this analysis is known as cause and effect or fishbone diagrams. It enables user the countless way to brainstorm within a specific design. Every analysis (Duncan, n.d.) initiates the same way first a core problem, second a line which known as a spine or main bone is sketched straight to the left and all the sub route are added in both way top and bottom of it. This sub routes are known as affinities or the reason from the main bone of the core problem. The certain reasons are noted to each cause while the brainstorming is in progress. This method repeated until the brainstorming is finish and user feel contented with the model of fishbone diagram. Refer annexure -1 for this analysis.
Body:
Since almost everyone can use a fishbone diagram to assist the brainstorm and there are many methods of fishbone diagram. In this assignment only one method is going use to analyse the root problem i.e., 5W’s method. Head of the fish or the root of the problem is student performance. Sub routes are:
1. I did not achieve the grade that I has set for myself as my personal goal –
First affinity of this fishbone diagram is that student is not able to achieve the grade which s/he has set as a personal goal. To find the root cause of this affinity, 5W’s method used to analysis the problem. These are:
I. What – What is the affinity? Student is not able to meet the targeted grade.
II. Where – Where is the weakest point? Student study routine or methods. As a result, student failed to achieve the pre-set grade of the semester.
III. Who – Who is affected by this? Student.
IV. Why – Why this has happened. Student strategic plan was not designed correctly.
V. When – When this affinity has happened. Grade sheet is the performance indicator for the student therefore, affinity observed post grade sheet was published.
2. I could not spend enough time on my studies to do as well as I wanted to – Second affinity of this fishbone diagram is that student could not spent sufficient time for the study. To find the root cause of this affinity, 5W’s are:
i. What – What is the affinity. Student not able spend sufficient time on the study period.
ii. Where – Where is the weakest point. Student’s study period plan or the study routine was not planned efficiently.
iii. Who – Who is affected by this affinity? Student.
iv. Why – Why this affinity has happened. It could be either student’s lack of aim or focus or dedication to study.
v. When – When this affinity has happened. It was during the student’s study period or study break.
3. I was satisfied with my grade, but I felt a bit stressed and under pressure –
Third affinity of this fishbone diagram is that student was satisfied with the grade but felt a bit under pressure or stressed. To find the root cause of this affinity, 5W’s are:
i. What – What is the affinity. Student felt bit stressed and under pressure during the coursework.
ii. Where – Where is the weakest point. It could be either student was not able mange to coursework’s load or student did not plan the course work strategically e.g., study period, assignments, exam study interval etc
iii. Who – Who is affected by this affinity? Student.
iv. Why – Why this affinity...
