If you are not clear on any aspect, please speak with your lecturer who will be happy to clarify any questions. Overview of the Assignment You are required to demonstrate your understanding of marketing theory as we have covered in activities and material in class. For assessment 1, you are required to prepare a 1500 word situation analysis report on the Australian fashion label Bec + Bridge, founded in 2004. You will research the brand and investigate the industry and the various environments it operates within. Drawing on your research, you will include prominent issues in a SWOT summary and develop actionable strategies the company could implement over the next 5 years to respond to opportunities and challenges you identified in your situational analysis. Your strategies should emphasize the sustainable marketing practices we consider in Week 4. You should use academic references to define the aspects of situational analysis you investigate. You should draw on the marketing theories covered in course content in Weeks 1-4 (i.e., relevant textbook chapters 1-4, and 14) as well as three (3) academic journal articles to help support your arguments. You are encouraged to visit the company website and recent media articles to find out information specific to the company. Further information is available in the Moodle Assessment folder. 1.0 Introduction
This study is a situational analysis report of an Australian Fashion brand to evaluate the marketing environment of the firm. In this situational analysis the market affordability, distribution situation, product situation, and environmental factors have been analysed. This situation also examines the Australian fashion clothing market and explores relevant marketing environmental factors which related to the fashion brand in the Australian clothing industry.
2.0 Background to the company
Bec + Bridge was established and was invited to exhibit at the Mercedes Fashion Week in Australia in 2004. The brand has received a lot of attention, leading fashion purchasers have placed orders for the country’s most exclusive stores, and the media announced that the Bec + Bridge brand is on your “must have” list. Since 2007, David Jones, Australia's leading department store, has been their most loyal long-term retail partner, and the brand has been working closely with the brand. They work also with internationally renowned partners (Bec+Bridge).
The designers behind the Bec + Bridge, Bridget Yorston and aBecky Cooper met in 2000 and this was their first day at Sydney University of Technology. These are the two reasons that initially crossed the road. Despite the appearance of the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion and Textile, it seems that the entire universe has bigger plans. Cooper and Joston graduated with first-class honours in 2003 and knew that what to do next (Bec+Bridge).

1. Trade rules and prices related to durable consumer goods and clothing
2. Favorable exchange partners
3. Antitrust laws linked to customer durables and clothing
4. Pricing regulations – is there a...
