This chapter focused on helping you select the most appropriate measures to be used in any given case or situation. We first briefly reviewed the types of measures that we’ve discussed in this section of the book. Then we discussed the factors you should consider in deciding on a measure: characteristics of the measure itself, characteristics of the target, characteristics of the practitioner and practice approach, and characteristics of the client and available resources. The last section of the chapter recommended the use of more than one measure whenever possible, in essence, building the idea of a “measurement package” into your practice. The chapter concluded with a set of guidelines for using multiple measures and a framework for selecting a measure.
