This assignment will allow you to determine your nutritional needs and better understand the dietary recommendations for Americans based on the Dietary Guidelines.

You will use the ChooseMyPlate website. Explore each food group of the MyPlate, and read corresponding “tips”. Then use SuperTracker and set up a free profile and enter 1 days’ worth of food and beverage consumption as well as physical activity. Then under MyReports, run a “Food Groups & Calories” and a “Nutrients” report (10 pts), save as pdf and submit with a corresponding word doc answering the following questions (5 pts each):

1.

Summarize your nutrient needs. Were you surprised by them? How well are you meeting your nutrient needs?

2.

Browse the ChooseMyPlate website, do you feel it is user friendly? Do you feel MyPlate is easier or harder to understand than the previous MyPyramid and Pyramid methods?

3.

Many Americans are not aware of the existence of this USDA government free nutrition tracking system, how can we communicate its existence to the general public? Are there other apps or websites that you use or know of?
