Statistical Areas Level 2 (SA2) is the small and medium sized areas that build up on the concept of Statistical Areas Level (SA1). The main purpose to develop the area is to encourage community in terms of social and economic background. The area of New South Wales is divided into various areas in terms of regional boundaries and different characteristics.SA2 areas are the smallest areas that associate with annual estimated resident population data readily available.

It is more than twice the level of change when compared to similarly sized ASGS Structure areas such as SA2s (4.5% change) and SA3s (3.1% change).
