This assignment gives you an opportunity to design a science teaching experience that is taught across a series of 5 lessons. It also introduces you to the ‘5Es’ model for planning teaching activities. Lesson Plan for Understanding the Properties of Natural Elements

    Course
    Instructor
    Date
Learning Objectives
The integrated objective of this lesson plan is to help the class 3rd students about the properties of natural elements that they usually see around them. The plan will be divided into five parts, five continuous lesso
ns provided on five different days. The duration of one lesson will be one hour approx and the categories that will be taken for study in this lesson plan will be biological elements.
Lesson One (Monday, Duration, one hour): Understanding the Properties of Living Plants (5e Model)
Engaging the Class
The first lesson will include the definition of natural science to the class in general. It will be all about telling them how humans understand the nature around them. The class will be asked to think of a plant that they see very often in their vicinity or in their own home. Every student will write down the name of that plant or tree in his or her notebook. The purpose of this activity will be to engage the whole class into the process of learning about nature.
Exploring the Physical Structure of Plants/Trees
In the second part of the first lesson, the students will be asked to recall the physical appearance of the plants that they have written in their notebook. They will be asked to record the color, size and any other precise details—it can include smell, position or the structure—which they can easily remember. The students will write down the details accordingly in their notebook. By exploring the details of the plant or tree chosen as per their choice, the students will be given an opportunity to explore the regular nature around them.
Explaining and Elaborating the Physical Structure
As the final activity of the first lesson, all the documents from the students will be collected and they will be asked to cross check, if they have recorded everything according to the instructions. A common explanation will be given to them about the difference between a plant and a tree. For example, a plant is comparatively smaller and thinner than a tree and it will help the students recognize if the name that they have mentioned and detailed is a plant or a tree.
Evaluation of the First Lesson
To check if the class has learnt the first lesson well, the students will be provided with a specific questionnaire containing the basic questions related to the appearances of plants and trees. These questions will be as following:
· What is the height (approx) of the plant or a tree that you have mentioned?
· What is its color? Does it have a specific smell? If yes, of what kind?
· Explain the size and structure of the object mentioned by you.
The students will be asked to submit their responses to the above questions in the nest lesson. Additionally, they will be asked to bring a photograph, clearly showing the full structure of the plant or tree that they have chosen during the next lesson.
Lesson Two (Tuesday, Duration, One Hour): Learning About the Leaves, Branches, Stems and Roots
Engaging the Students
The second class will continue with the learning objective of the first one i.e. the students will be asked to see the picture that they have brought with them closely. They will be questioned about some general things like how many parts they are able to see in it. The responses of the students will be closely observed. Meanwhile, two pictures will be shown to them through...
