This assessment requires the learner to be directly observed by an assessor. This observation must take place in an actual workplace or approved, simulated industry environment as defined in the Assessment guidelines.Task 1 is a direct observation of the learner in the practical environment. The observations cover a range of personal hygiene practices which must be applied in the workplace environment.To ensure that all of the critical aspects for assessment are covered, the assessor must observe the learner integrating the use of personal hygiene knowledge and practices into day-to-day work functions.Task 1: Observe personal hygiene practicesYour assessor will:• observe you in a real or simulated hospitality environment completing a range of personal hygiene practices• use the checklist to observe you using a range of skills/tasks• observe you 3 times while you learn and use various skills/tasks• ensure that you can consistently perform all tasks multiple times satisfactorily• decide when you are competent at all tasks
Demonstrates the ability to use self-management skills to develop and follow a personal hygiene routine.Is able to check and adjust personal cleanliness at appropriate times during service periods so that the health of self and others is maintained at all times.Checks the cleanliness of uniform, dress or personal protective items for contamination during service periods and adjusts to maintain health of self and others.Demonstrates the ability to maintain customer confidence in organisational service standards through the use of appropriate personal hygiene practices.Can use problem-solving skills to identify hygiene hazards that may affect the health of self and others.
