This assessment provides you with the opportunity to create a psychoeducational resource.

The ability to conceptualise, synthesise and communicate information concisely is a skill required in all professional settings. The resource should succinctly present information and effectively communicate it to the target audience.

Your resource will be a resource provided to someone (family member/friend) who is supporting a person recently diagnosed with one of the following disorders:obsessive-compulsive disorder; post-traumatic stress disorder; or bulimia nervosa.

You will present your resource as an A4 size brochure. Think about the brochure as something that would be handed out via a support service.

The content of the resource should include:

  • An explanation of the disorder and related symptoms, the prevalence of the disorder, and what is known about the causes of the disorder.

  • Suggestions about how to support someone who has been diagnosed with the disorder.

  • The resource should be in a written format and should be accessible for adults.

Presentation

All content must fit on a double-sided A4 page.

The brochure can be tri-fold (DL size), bi-fold (A5 size), or unfolded (A4 size).

There is no word limit for this assessment.

Your brochure should include a mix of text and images, diagrams and/or graphics to convey the key information in a way that is relevant, meaningful, comprehensive, and visually attractive to your target audience.

You may choose any software to create your poster. Please ensure that the software allows you to download/export your work. Power Point is a useful tool and available free to students.

Provide a separate cover page with your name and student number.

Provide a separate reference list (see below for specific referencing instructions).

Save and submit your brochure as a PDF document.

Referencing

To avoid references interfering with the flow of information in your brochure, this assessment will use a hybrid superscript/APA 7 referencing style.

  • On the brochure use a number system[1] to identify where you would normally insert an in-text reference.

  • Provide a separate APA 7 style refence list citing all sources (including images).

  • Present the individual refences in APA 7 style – but order reference list numerically to match the numeric order appearing on the brochure.

  • APA 7 style for thereference list ONLYincludes: 12-point black font (Times New Roman or Calibri) and hanging indent.

  • Explain the characteristics and aetiology of common psychological disorders by integrating theoretical and empirical evidence.Your markers will grade your assessment according to the rubric, which can be found at the bottom of this page. Please read the rubric carefully and ensure that your assessment addresses all criteria.
