Succeeding in your first graduate role or in an internship involves a great deal of self-directed learning and initiative and involves a high degree of individual choice. To gain maximum benefit from these experiences, careful thought and planning are required. Your Professional Development Plan incorporates the formal stages of your career planning process. It is a practical exercise with personal benefits – a real-life self-management strategy to assist you in obtaining a suitable employment/internship position and developing your career. You can write in first person. However, you should remember that this is a university assessment and not a descriptive story. It is expected that you apply theoretical knowledge to a practical situation and demonstrate critical reflection and critical thinking.Your Professional Development Plan should include the following components:Executive summary

Remember that an executive summary of a report is just that, a summary. It contains:

  • a statement of report purpose

  • an overview of the actual and specific findings.

For this assessment, it should be no longer than one to two pages (and is NOT included in your total word count for this assessment). The summary can only be written after you have completed your report. Write in ‘past’ tense (e.g.The purpose of this report was to …). If an executive summary is well written, the reader should be able to understand the main points, findings, and conclusions of the actual report without having to read the full report.Table of contents

Ensure that each heading number, heading and page number is included and is professionally laid out. The easiest and most professional way to do this is to use the Microsoft Word feature that automatically creates a table of contents for you.Section 1 – Introduction

This next section addresses how to actually go about making decisions relevant to career planning or development. Refer to the literature on Problem Solving and Decision Making and critically evaluate how an understanding of these theories can be of assistance to the decision-making and problem-solving processes you will be using when seeking your internship/graduate employment (Modules 4 & 5). You must compare and contrast at least two approaches/ theories (approximately 3–4 paragraphs).
Your discussion should identify factors that will be important in your internship/graduate position decision such as the geographic location, paid/unpaid nature, opportunity for training and development, opportunity for ongoing employment, and so forth.Section 5 – Goals

Setting goals (both short and long term) is important in career planning. Challenging, but realistic goals can have a powerful positive influence on career success (see Module 4). Executive Summary
My professional development plan after completion of graduation is to pursue a career in cyber security. For this there are various skills and knowledge necessary in the field of Information Technology. I also need to analyse my strengths and weaknesses which is done through the Big 5 Personality Traits model. This will help to improve on my weaknesses which is essential for becoming a highly skilled and efficient cyber security expert in Australia. I also need to mentor the employees so that they grow in the career and are able to serve the IT industry efficiently. I will also define the goals and objectives for 1 year which is short-term, 3 to 5 years which is mid-term goals and for more than 10 years which is long-term goals
after completing my Masters in Cyber Security is to become a cyber security professional dealing with various IT and government companies for securing their system throughout Australia. While doing the profession of a cyber security expert, I also want to open my own company which will provide services to the IT and government sectors as well impart training skills to the graduate students, unemployed youths in Australia so that they can learn the cyber security skills and earn a living out of it. Finally, this will enable me to generate millions of dollars in the future from the cyber security business.

Introduction
The professional developmental plan is a document which records the goals, necessary skills, the competency development initiatives and the objectives of the staff members which need to be accomplished for supporting continuous improvement and for development of career. Generally, a professional development plan is created by a manager for recognizing the skills and resources required by the members for supporting the career goals of the staff members and the business requirement of the organization. In this discussion, I would like to discuss of my professional developmental plans in which I would like to succeed in life. My professional developmental plans would be to pursue my passion of opening a cyber security professional center in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Thus, in order to successfully operate cyber security professional center in Sydney I need to earn sufficient self-confidence, money and follow my passion. For this along with studying for Master’s degree in cyber security, I would also work as a part-time worker in a small IT company for earning experience and establishing connections with the corporate customer through efficient customer services.     
Self-Awareness
Personality
Prior to planning for a professional developmental plan for opening a cyber security professional business in Sydney, I need to analyse my personality. This will help me to know about myself a little better. If I am able to highlight my own personal preferences, then we will be able to glimpse some of the traits which are possessed by other people and is an eye-opener for many. Further, my personality traits will consist of my strengths and weaknesses which can be explained through the Big 5 Personality Traits model. This model was developed by D.W. Fiske in the year 1949.
Conscientiousness: My weakness is that I am not too much conscientious towards my work. Although I can work quite well with some assistance but I fail sometimes to meet the deadlines. Hence, to become more conscientious, I need to work and train myself for long hours as there will be lots of pressure while working as a cyber security expert in Sydney. Further, there is a lot of coding which needs to be done for working as a cyber security professional. This will help me to protect the client’s system from cyber-attacks (Insureon, 2022).
Openness: I have high willingness and is open to learn new skills and various new tools such as Certification in Ethical Hacker, GIAC Security Essentials Certification and Certified Cloud Security Professional (Insureon, 2022). Further, if I am presented with complex problems, then I have the ability to provide a more abstract solution.
Extraversion: Further, I get energized as well as talkative, express emotionally and display my self-confidence through social interactions with unknown people especially the customers during internship in the small IT company in Sydney.
Agreeableness: I am also agreeable to a great extent which can be displayed through my honesty, sympathy, warmth and humanity. I contribute some of my earnings as charity for the education of the poor in Australia.
Neuroticism: Another weakness of mine is that I have high level of neuroticism and seldom like changes on a consistent basis. But I am trying to reduce this personality trait as it will help me to acquire new knowledge by adapting to the changes which takes place in the small IT cyber security company in Australia. It needs to meet the ever-changing preferences of the customers (Thomas, 2021).
Values and Motivators
Values are broad motivators which helps to achieve the goals. Further, it’s the values which states the broad goals which are crucial in our lives (Schwartz, 1992). The values act as a guiding principle in the lives of human being and it varies across individual (Rokeach, 1973). My values are generosity at work, with my friends and even at home with my family members. Hence, this value is also likely to be motivated by the generosity values. Further, the values help me get motivated and be open to new ideas and experience innovative things.
Emotional Intelligence
Emotional intelligence abilities are the skills which helps me to understand as well as manage my emotions. Further, these skills are associated with a wide range of benefits such as the completion of my graduation successfully, ability to make new decisions for starting a cyber security professional company in Sydney and for the overall success in my life. These skills are as follows:
Self-awareness: Being self-aware, I am able to monitor my emotions and helps me in identifying the factors they feel and the way they behave. I am also able to recognise my own strengths and weaknesses along with acquisition of new information and learning from interacting with the customers.
Social skills: I have also developed social skills which is another emotional intelligence. I am easily able to interact with others and make a meaningful and bonded relationship with unknown people during my working as an intern in the small IT company with the clients (Cherry, 2022).
Leadership
The leadership must set goals for themselves by honing their skills and by setting SMART goals. This eventually helps the leaders to create a plan which helps them to grow and succeed in life. The leadership aspiration which I have developed are learning from constructive criticism. A study by LinkedIn found that around 92% of the people stated that it is through constructive criticism which has helped them to improve their performances. Secondly, I emphasize on building effective relationships with the team members and the customers. By building relationship with the team members, colleagues and customers I am able to develop a sense of trust and learn from the personal strengths and weaknesses (Velocity Global, 2021).
My potentials as a leader are that I am able to build effective relationship with the customers during my work as an internship candidate in the small IT company and I am also open to constructive criticism to learn new things.
