This assessment involves you producing a project initiation document or PID of 1,450 words in length (excluding, bibliography/references). You can include appendices where relevant, which are not counted as part of the overall word count. Scenario - You are a senior manager in a leadership position within a library, information service or related department, within a public or private sector organisation (including, but not limited to – higher education, public library, healthcare organisation, business organisation). You or a colleague have identified an aspect of the service that you consider would benefit from change. You are to lead this project, and in order to communicate the key focus of this project to all stakeholders, you have identified the need to outline the project in the form of a project initiation document. Document components This document will outline the scope and focus of the project, including clear aims and objectives. All key partners and stakeholders involved in the project will be identified together with their roles and responsibilities. The project team will need clear communication strategies, reporting framework, and control mechanisms. The document will identify potential resources required, risks and constraints. A project plan will be included with clear milestones. You are not expected to include a detailed budget, but will identify funding responsibility. You will indicate how the project will be monitored and its success evaluated, and how the project outcomes will be disseminated and to whom.You can use either a real-life project or an imaginary one.
