Think about exciting action movies or television programmes you have seen. How did you feel afterwards? Did you feel calm and content? Did you feel excited and aroused? Pay attention to how you feel the next time you see an action movie. Do your impressions support the concept of catharsis? Do you think that the idea of catharsis might be applicable to any other situations? For example, do you think that watching a sad movie would help you cope with a sad situation in your own life? Or would it make you feel sadder?
