tonewall riots can be called as the most important event in the US history and it happened in the year of 1969. The issue happened in connection with a bar, where there was a fight between police and gay rights activists. The riot helped the gay rights activists to fight for their rights and freedom.

While analyzing the situation in 1969, we can understand that LGBQT communities considered Greenwich village in New York as their main shelter. Except for Illinois, homosexual conduct was still illegal in every state at the time, and pubs and restaurants that had gay workers or served gay clientele risked being shut down. Most of the homosexual pubs were controlled and managed by the gang leaders. Police raids on homosexual clubs were routine, but on that particular night, members of the city's LGBT community took to the streets to protest (Shield 2020,p.193).
