These need to be around 500 words...about a page. Notice I said "around." I'm not a stickler for exact word counts. If you can say what you need to in alittleless, that's fine. But don't try giving me a quick 100 words and think it will fly. It won't. Likewise, those of you who tend to be verbose...try to keep it down to under two pages, please. You won't be docked points if you can't, though.
The guidelines are as follows:
1. Write on something with a biological aspect that has been in the news in the last five years or so. If you are interested in something older, ask me first. I'll probably okay it, but check.
2. I want asynopsisof what it is, and then I want your take on it. What's your opinion? How do you think it should be handled?
3. Link to whatever source you used for the information on the topic. Social media is not a source. Anything “.com” is not a source. If you aren’t sure if your source is good, email me!
4. Do NOT use Covid-19. Something that connects with it is often okay, but check first if you go that route.
5. Each of your four must be on a different topic. No more than two medical topics, please.
Now, how is it being graded?
1. First, on completion. Just do it. Pay attention to the closing dates. Each has a different date.
2. Write like a college student. Do not use text speak. No specific format, but I do expect complete sentences!
3.Do. Not. Plagiarize. Not in any way, shape, or form. All of these will be run through a checker. Don't make it all quotes from the article. I want a synopsis...a summary.
4. Together they are 10% of your semester grade. Each one, therefore, is 2.5% of your semester grade. Doesn't sound like much, but it's the difference between a D and a C.
This is actually a pretty easy 10% of your grade. You can also do them ahead, so feel free to just knock them all out early and then forget about them. They won't be accepted late.
