There is no doubt that the world’s troubles during the 1930s and 1940s profoundly influenced the Cubist movement. The 1930s was the Great Depression and the 1940s was World War II, so it was a profoundly unsettled time, one filled with anxiety and anger. How would you all say that Cubism was the ideal artistic medium for expressing these emotions, where Impressionism would not have been?
