There is a 35-second shot clock for men’s NCAA basketball games. A team must shoot before the shot clock expires, or they turn the ball over to the opposing team. A team rarely uses the entire 35 seconds, and some teams shoot as quickly as possible. A study was conducted to compare the mean time to take a shot in five different athletic conferences. Independent random samples of possessions were obtained, and the time (in seconds) to take a shot was recorded for each. An ANOVA test was conducted to determine whether there was any overall difference in population mean shot times ( f = 6.33 and MSE = 65.201). The summary statistics are given in the following table.
Construct the Bonferroni 99% confidence intervals for all pairwise comparisons and draw a graph to represent the results. Identify the pairs of athletic conference population means that are significantly different.
