There have been many studies to determine the most important characteristic for golfers to produce long drives. A recent investigation considered grip strength. A random sample of golfers was obtained and a handgrip dynamometer was used to measure grip strength (x, in Newtons) on each person. Each golfer then drove a ball, and the length of the drive was measured (y, in yards). GOLFER
a. Find the estimated regression line, and compute the residuals.
b. Conduct an F test for a significant regression. Use a significance level of 0.01.
c. Carefully sketch a normal probability plot of the residuals and a plot of the residuals versus the predictor variable.
d. Do these graphs provide any evidence that the simple linear regression assumptions are invalid? Justify your answer. How do you think this regression model could be improved?
