There are very few federal laws specifically for hacking, though most states have their own laws. The first law for hacking, the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFFA) was passedin 1986 and is still the backbone of the hacking legislature. Currently, it is at issue in the United States Supreme Court; there is talk that the law is overly broad (one interpretation proclaims a federal crime for sharing passwords - for instance, Netflix).
