Interest charges are not deducted from the cash flows in the capital budgeting because t
he interest charges are reflected in the form of discount rate in the weighted average cost of capital. Thus including interest charges will double count the interest rate and reduce the cash flow in the capital budgeting and will understate the net present value of the project.
