For this assignment, suggest several ideas for future research that will build upon the lessons learned in your study. Explain why future research in your research area will be worthwhile and what you expect future researchers may find. Keep in mind the limitations that you have identified in the
Week 9 Discussionas they may be beneficial for a future researcher to perform a study that overcomes these limitations from your study.
Recidivism in the prisoners of United States Research Context: The current and proposed research on recidivism in United States is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of recidivism trends in United States of America. More significantly the research is expected to provide an overview of statistics and this will emphasize the relative need and necessity to pay attention and focus on recidivism in the country. Also, the research is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the factors responsible for causing recidivism in the country. Understanding of the same will provide a means and strategy to counter the recurrence. Limitation: Research context is only limited to the statistical and root cause analysis, there is no relevance of the same towards the investigation of causes and effectiveness of the solutions proposed. Methodologies: Both qualitative as well as quantitative methods of data collection will be employed in this case. Quality data collection consists in collection of information from variety of sources like interviewing the people from different origins and backgrounds identified for recidivism. Collection of the recidivism data from the home security department as well as from other secondary sources like magazines, reports, journals etc. Limitations: Only qualitative and quantitative methods will be employed and total research will be focussing on the information available through these modes. Also, the efficiency of the research will be limited by the executioner’s ability to employ these methods of research. Sample and sampling Designs: Random sampling will be done to identify the causes and factors responsible for recidivism. More specifically the sampling will be spread across different demographics, will include different races, ethnics, genders, cultural, educational and economic levels. Limitations: The limitations of the research will include confining the experiment to the regions of United states and also selection of the sample will limit the efficiency and approximating the reality. Research Instruments: The research instruments will be mainly data collection through data bases using computers, consolidation can be done through statistical analysis tools. Qualitative analysis can be done by interviewing through questionnaires, responses will be recorded using appropriate media and findings will be analyzed for their appropriateness. Limitations: Only research instruments and operational procedures available as of now will be employed in the current research. The efficiency and effectiveness of research will be limited by these instruments. Data collection methods: Quantitative data will be collected from secondary research and qualitative data will be collected through personal interviews. Limitations: Research efficiency will limit the quality of outcomes in qualitative data collection, also the volume of data available will confine the quality of quantitative outcomes. Theoretical orientations: Application of inoculation theories and reduction of recidivism can make up a good theoretical orientation. Interesting part of the discussion can be investigation of the potential of the inoculation theory in mitigating the recidivism. Limitations: As of now the proposed research will be focussing on the basic information of recidivism and basic root cause investigation for the occurrence of recidivism, however there is no in-depth investigation of the feasibility of the theories of inoculation and other related principles. Scope for future research: Future research can extend the scope of coverage; they can work to stretch the limits of the current research. The sample population can be improved; the quality of data collection can be improved. More sophisticated data analysis methods (Denver, 2017) and tools can be employed to yield more appropriate conclusions. Also, the theories possible to research on can be increased and new theories can be investigated (Bouffard, 2017). References: Bouffard, J., Cooper, M., & Bergseth, K. (2017).
