The topic for this assignment is to prepare a business case to support opening a small primary care practice/clinic in a region/country of your choice. The primary care practice can be for general practice, allied health services or a dental practice. Specify whether the practice is in the public or private sector; if the latter, for-profit or not-for-profit.
You are required to prepare an operating and capital budget as well as a narrative summary of between 1,500 and 2,000 words to explain your assumptions and financial findings. The words in your operating and capital budgets are not included in the word count.
The business case should include the following:
(a) An annual statistical report for the first two years that includes:
- The volume of patient visits each year
- Revenue each year
- Expenses/costs each year (Labour, equipment, supplies, and overheads)
- Provide assumptions to justify volumes, revenue, and expenses (in the narrative summary)
(b) Prepare an operating budget for the first two years that includes:
- An estimate of revenue each year
- An estimate of expenses each year
- The profit/surplus generated from revenues and expenses each year
(c) Prepare a start-up capital budget listing the equipment you may need for the project including the cost and annual depreciation.
(d) Prepare the 1,500 to 2,000 narrative summary, including the rationale for selecting the location and issues relating to corporate governance and financial risk.
