ranted land-labor grants also known as encomienda by the Tainos where they could exploit the land for agricultural purposes and mining. This, however, transitioned into conquering the Native Americans (Von Sivers and Stow).
Why were the Spanish able to overpower the Aztecs quickly?
The Spanish were able to overpower the Aztecs easily because of the support they gained from the enemy of the Aztecs, the Native American allies called the Tlaxcalans. Their support amplified when the Spanish army arrived along with Cortez already disabling the gear and skull hunks that prevented the rebellion from growing.
What was the role of the other Native Americans in the conquest?
           The Spanish were assisted by the Native Americans allies who provided up to 50,000 fighting men in the war from the Tlaxcalans who aided in the conquest of the Aztecs by the Spanish.
