The South African Football Association (SAFA) has been advised by a team of social psychology consultants that crowd disturbances at football matches are more likely to occur on very hot or very cold days. Apparently, these extreme weather conditions frustrate people, and this frustration easily boils over into crowd disturbances. SAFA decide that they will call off any scheduled matches if the temperature is more extreme than it is 98.5% of the time. If the daily temperature in South Africa is normally distributed with a mean of 22 and a standard deviation of 9, at what temperatures will SAFA call off matches?
