The solar wind, or the flow of charged particles from the Sun, affects communications, navigation, and the Earth’s static pressure (the force exerted by the atmosphere on the surface of the Earth). A random sample of days was selected, and the solar wind density was measured (x, in protons/cm3 ) using a special NASA satellite. For each day selected, the static pressure (y, in MPa) was also recorded. The data are given in the following table.
a. Find the estimated regression line, and compute the residuals.
b. Carefully sketch a normal probability plot of the residuals and a plot of the residuals versus the predictor variable.
c. Do these graphs provide any evidence that the simple linear regression assumptions are invalid? Justify your answer
