The social contract theory says that the power of the government has been delegated to it in order to put an end to the chaos and injustice we would suffer if it were not there. Hence, isn’t it a strength of this theory that it does not dictate a certain form of government but does provide a criterion for defining the scope and limits of the government? Don’t we want a government that has no more and no less power than we decide it should have?
