Running Head: SHORT ESSAY 1 SHORT ESSAY 5 SHORT ESSAY In this reflection, I have given a vivid description of my experience after joining the university as a post-graduate student. In this, I have tried to display how Murdoch University was an all-total different experience for me. Since my childhood, my parents have seen the dream that their child will pursue a higher degree course in future. Like all other parents, my parents work very hard for me to join the university as a post-graduate student. Being an intercontinental student, everything about this university is so new for me. From the fellow students to the professors of the university to the people outside the university, all are so new and so strange for me. Coming back to the university is a great feeling for me. The opportunity to gain more knowledge from the professors of my respected university is a driving force for me. Getting admission in one of the most prestigious universities in Australia shows how fortunate I am. After joining my class, the first difficulty that is faced is to understand the accent that the professors and the fellow students were using. Coming from a different continent my grip of English was good but the accent that they were using was a bit strange for me (Dunn, Calais, Lee & Pryor, 2018). Because of different accent issues, I find it hard to make friends as well. However, things are going moderately I have learned to understand the accent used in Australia. The first thing about Murdoch University that made me awestruck is the teaching style of this university. It is so different from that of the universities of my home country. In my homeland, the teaching techniques of colleges and universities are so different. When I was pursuing my graduation, I had to complete mostly my assignment in handwritten format. My professors conducted their classes in the classroom. Occasionally the professors took the interactive classes, thus the way of studying in my home country is based on the traditional way of teaching, and however, the Murdoch University allowed me to learn from the online lectures. The unit coordinators of my class made the lectures posted online so that no students miss any lectures. By this way, we can also repeat the lectures of our professors in case of any doubt. The most interesting thing about the library is that I can access the library at any time of the day. It remains open for twenty-four-hour (Geagea, MacCallum, Vernon & Barber, 2017). The orientation classes that the university arranges for the students are very much interesting. Murdoch University is the home of students of mixed culture and races. As the university, gates are open for all. The students of my class are from different part of the world hence we all get to know about a new culture. Our professors treat us in a very likely manner. They help all the intercontinental students to cope up with the culture of Australia and give us the lessons of coexisting. from my part to join the community of the University I focused on learning some local language so that I do not any more feel like an outsider both in the county and the university. The teaching technique of the university based on the interactive learning of the students. The projects the assignment the orientation classes that the university arranges requires the involvement of students and one need to be a part of a group (Lymn, 2018). For the next semester, I need the help of my fellow students to score good grades. I need to make friends some real friends who can help me in doing assignments. The more people will involve in doing a particular assignment the better chances of accomplishing the goals. In addition, with such variation, we can use the different resources to provide strength to our ideas. For my next semester, I have made some of the backup plans to score good grades such as I will join forums to understand the Murdoch community better. I have planned to join other activates that will help me grow my self-confidence. Being a self-confident person, I will be able to share my views in a group assignment in from of other fellow students. Even during our interactive session, I will be able to present my views in a more presentable and authenticated way. As I joined the university which is far from my homeland naturally the cultural difference is so distinctively present to become more open-minded and to learn about the culture of Murdoch I have planned to join as a volunteer in the social group. All these are the things that I have planned so that it can help me in my next semester. Reference Dunn, A., Calais, M., Lee, G., & Pryor, T. (2018).
